Registration and welcome drink, and preparation for the start of the next day. Free evening.
27th June 2019: driving distance app. 100km, mostly plane side roads, start at 10.00 am
After the breakfast buffet we will spend a day in Istria; one of the most popular destinations for foreign visitors to Croatia. In formed groups and accompanied by skilled marshals on modern motorcycles, we will visit the town Poreč and the surroundings. On the way back to the hotel riding through the stone Istrian region, we will stop to visit Grožnjan, a small picturesque medieval settlement in the heart of Istria. After to the return to the hotel, before and after dinner, participants will have time to take a bath.
28th June 2019: driving distance app. 100 km, mostly plane side roads with moderate ascents and lowering of the border crossing CRO-SLO (Dragonja-Sečovlje; organised simplified group crossing of the border), start 10.00 am
The city of Piran will be ur first stop of the day. After a guided walk through the city and harbour we will visit the birthplace – now a museum – of the world famous violin virtuoso Giuseppe Tartini. The winding road with a stronger inclination will lead us between endless vineyards and olive plantations to the newly opened wine cellar “RODICA” known for its culinary delicacy such as prosciutto, sausages, cheeses, salami and top home-made wines. On a return trip to the hotel in Umag, we will take you through the picturesque Slovene Istria to the hundreds of year’s old salt pans in Sečovlje, which extends on 650 ha. After to the return to the hotel, before and after dinner, participants will have time to take a bath.
29th June 2019: During the crossing of the border we will accompanied by the Italian Motorized Police and the Carabinieri with their historical motorcycles of the national museum of the CC of Rome. Then, the path will take us to the heart of Trieste.
We will be welcomed by the Mayor and the President of the Region, then we will meet the members of Motoclub Trieste – the oldest club in Italy, founded in the summer of 1906.
While our bikes will be on display in the square, participants will preview the exhibition about Camillo Castiglioni at Palazzo Gopcevich. “Camillo Castiglioni: the Triestino that brought BMW to success”. At the palazzo there will be the presentation of the book “La Trieste Opicina Motociclistica“, an historical and iconographic work by Dr. Franco Damiani, a writer of books about motorcycling.
At the same time, the exhibition will present the history of BMW motorcycles, from the first prototypes to modern production: vintage models will be displayed.
Next up, we will be driven through the legendary uphill slope of the “Trieste-Opicina” race, starting from downtown Trieste in Piazza Unità d’Italia, going on for about 10 km, and arriving at the Karst Embankment (330 m).
We will also have a series of British Frazer Nash cars that will be exhibited in Piazza Unità d’Italia after the world meeting in Bolzano on June 29th.
After the lunch an visit of local attraction typical of the region, we will return back to the hotel.
The last evening will end glamorously, with some music and gala dinner, followed by the award giving ceremony.
